Congress agreed to a $500 billion budget package Thursday that includes Department of Transportation and highway funding for fiscal 1999, but left at least one key trucking issue unresolved: Will the Office of Motor Carriers get a new home.

The ISX engine has horsepower ratings from 400 to 500, with peak torque from 1,450 to 1,850 footpounds. It has a dual overhead cam, with one camshaft driving the fuel injection system while the other drives the valves and an integrated barking system, called Intebrake. Electronic controls record trip and performance information and allow technicians to diagnose engine problems.
