Mack Trucks is hauling a heavy payload of orders, following a robust third quarter in which the manufacturer that assembles its vehicles in the Lehigh Valley received a flurry of interest from customers.

ATLANTA — Mack Trucks showed off its new Anthem highway tractor and clarified how it will be marketed relative to its long-standing Pinnacle highway model that remains available.

CHARLESTON, S.C. — As one part of its integrated powertrain strategy, Mack Trucks’ line of automated manual transmissions is seeing increasing adoption in the market, said executives with the heavy-duty truck maker.

Rickard Lundberg started his career in the Volvo Group in 1989 when he was only about 19 years old. Then, in the first of what would be many jobs with Volvo, he worked on the shop floor, turning crankshafts at the truck maker's engine factory in Skovde, Sweden.

Less than three months ago, Mack Trucks reported its weakest year of truck deliveries in six years. Now, it appears, the heavy-duty truck manufacturer with a massive assembly plant in Lower Macungie Township, Pa., is turning the corner.

Mack Trucks delivered a mixed load of numbers in its first quarter, dragged down by lower output totals but propelled forward by a surge in orders logged during the first three months of 2017.
