Diesel demand in California is soaring as the risk of blackouts in the state spurs big power users to load up on fuel for generators.

ALTOONA, Pa. — In recognition of the country’s truck drivers, Sheetz has announced it has lowered the price of its diesel fuel to $4.49.

Diesel’s nine-week run of declines abruptly ended as trucking’s main fuel rose 20.6 cents a gallon to put the national average cost back over $5, according to Energy Information Administration data released Aug. 29.
