C.H. Robinson launched its AI-powered Asset Management System designed to bring real-time visibility and data-driven precision to one of the largest trailer networks in the U.S. freight market.
The system operates within the company’s program, which manages more than 10,000 trailers daily and handles about 800,000 shipments a year. By combining GPS tracking, telematics and operational data into one platform, C.H. Robinson aims to turn its fleet into a network of intelligent assets linked to its global shipper platform, Navisphere.

“The Drop Trailer Plus AMS is a game changer,” said Adam McDonough, vice president of truckload. “With real-time visibility across both our own and our strategic contract carriers’ fleets, we’re able to monitor each trailer in real time and help shippers streamline operations, rightsize trailer pools and minimize waste.”
Drop trailer programs, which account for nearly half of the U.S. truckload market, have long relied on manual tracking and limited data visibility. C.H. Robinson built AMS in-house to modernize the process, offering live GPS updates every five seconds, automated alerts for delays or idle assets, and performance scorecards for utilization and dwell time.

“Today’s environment requires nimble logistics,” said Michael Castagnetto, president of North American Surface Transportation. “That’s what you get with Drop Trailer Plus powered by our AMS: Capacity when you need it, clarity while you use it and better cost control to boot.”
AMS is currently active across C.H. Robinson’s trailer pool and select carrier fleets, with expansion continuing through 2026.
