This year’s Florida Truck Driving Championships welcomed a record 279 competitors. Grand Champion Rebecca “Becky” Nelson of FedEx Express outdrove them all.

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. — The Garden State’s trucking world has a new Grand Champion in Artur Lesniowski.

Gary Herrygers, a driver for The Boeing Co., was happily surprised when he won the 5-Axle division at this year’s Washington Truck Driving Championships. He was even happier (and more surprised) when he was announced as Grand Champion minutes later. He told Transport Topics he still is “on cloud nine.”

The father-son duo of David Lumpkin and Stephen Lumpkin are returning to the National Truck Driving Championships, but David — the Rhode Island Grand Champion — is grateful that this time they'll be competing in different classes.
