Fuel Suppliers Say Contaminated Diesel a Problem

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Two major fuel suppliers told truck stop industry officials meeting here that new tests showed it was currently impossible to deliver ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel through the nation’s pipeline system without it picking up too much sulfur along the way.

The Conference Board said Tuesday its index of consumer confidence declined to 104 in February from a revised 105 the month before, which had been the highest level in six months.

The national average retail price of diesel fuel rose 3.4 cents to $2.02 a gallon, the Department of Energy reported Tuesday.
