ArcBest’s Judy McReynolds to Retire as CEO at End of Year

Judy McReynolds will retire as ArcBest CEO on Dec. 31, .

Seth Runser, currently company president, will succeed McReynolds.

Fort Smith, Ark.-based ArcBest ranks No. 13 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 8 among less-than-truckload carriers. It also ranks No. 44 on the TT100 list of the largest logistics companies in North America.



Runser will retain his role as president while McReynolds will continue to serve as chairman of the board.

McReynolds has spent 28 years with ArcBest, including the past 15 as CEO. She was ArcBest’s chief financial officer before becoming the top executive and previously held senior roles in finance and accounting at the company.

Currently a member of American Trucking Associations’ board and executive committee, McReynolds was inducted into the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame in 2023.

“Since her appointment as CEO in 2010, Judy has led ArcBest through transformative change, delivering outstanding results and building a strong foundation for the future,” said Steven Spinner, lead independent director.

“Under her leadership, ArcBest has been a pioneer in the industry, making smart investments and implementing innovative technology at scale to deliver customized logistics solutions and provide a premium customer experience. Her integrity, vision and deep industry expertise have created a legacy,” Spinner added.

Runser joined ArcBest in 2007 as a management trainee with ABF Freight, the company’s LTL division. He was named president of ABF in 2021 and president of the parent company in 2024.

“Over the past 18 years, Seth has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership and achieved strong results. His strategic insight and operational expertise have been instrumental in fostering innovation and advancing ArcBest’s customer-centric approach as a leading logistics partner,” Spinner said.

Runser’s stops on the road to the top of the company included managing service centers in Youngstown and Akron, Ohio, and Baltimore.

“I am honored to be named CEO-elect and grateful for the trust Judy and the board have placed in me,” Runser said. “My 18 years at ArcBest have given me a deep understanding of our business and industry. I’m excited to build on our company’s more than 100-year legacy of innovation and customer service as we continue to drive momentum and deliver long-term value.”

McReynolds noted: “Seth has played a pivotal role in ArcBest’s evolution into a leading integrated logistics company, helping to deliver record results while steering the team through unprecedented change. I have complete confidence in his leadership and ArcBest’s continued success.”

ArcBest is set to report second-quarter 2025 earnings after the market closes July 30.
