The used truck market in November generated more demand and a higher average price for a Class 8 compared with a year earlier, ACT Research reported.

Class 8 used truck sales in March slipped 12%, and the average price dropped about $7,000 compared with a year earlier, ACT Research reported.

The price of the average used Class 8 truck sold in September dropped below year-ago levels for the second consecutive month as sales fell, too, ACT Research reported.

Sales of used Class 8 trucks dropped amid ongoing tight inventory in February and high demand as the average truck’s price climbed above $48,000, ACT Research Co. reported.

The average used Class 8 in December was slightly older, had more mileage and sold for 9% more compared with a year earlier, as sales were flat, according to ACT Research Co.

A dip in demand, shortages of vocational trucks and higher prices for the average Class 8 truck marked the used truck market in June, experts said.

Sales of used Class 8 trucks rose in January as mileage and age fell, and the price of the average vehicle was stable compared with a year earlier, ACT Research Co. reported.

ORLANDO, Fla.— Industrial auctioneer Ritchie Bros. jammed row after row of used equipment in all shapes and sizes riding on tires or treads onto a 232-acre site here to launch its annual premier auction in February, the first since acquiring rival IronPlanet.

The average used Class 8 vehicle in December sold for a higher price, had less mileage and was slightly newer compared with a year earlier, according to ACT Research Co.
