Navistar Inc. has expanded its Fleetrite aftermarket brand of all-makes parts to include more than 70 collision-replacement products.

NEW CARLISLE, Ind. — Navistar Inc. engineer Scott Smay paid close attention to the ProStar tractor he was driving on a closed course here; he just didn’t spend much time with his hands on the wheel or feet on the pedals.

Navistar International Corp. announced that a subsidiary of Navistar Financial Corp. completed a $300 million, two-year transaction to support dealer inventory funding.

LAS VEGAS — Navistar Inc. turned its product renewal strategy toward Class 8 highway tractors, unveiling its new International LT Series of trucks here Sept. 30 in front of more than 400 customers, dealers, employees and journalists.

German automotive manufacturer Volkswagen AG is expanding its Truck & Bus division into the U.S. market by acquiring a stake in Navistar International Corp., a deal that also provides Navistar with more efficient procurement and better access to new technology for engines and other applications.

LISLE, Illinois — Last week’s Volkswagen-Navistar deal was announced just before the maker of International Trucks reported quarterly earnings showing there is progress, albeit rocky, in recovering from what one of its executives called, “the sins of the past” — the 2010-2012 miscalculation on engine technology.

The net loss at truck maker Navistar International Corp. accelerated from the company’s previous fiscal third quarter as revenue dropped 18%, year-over-year, due to anemic North American heavy-duty truck sales.

Volkswagen AG’s pending acquisition of 16.6% of Navistar International Corp. for $256 million will provide the Lisle, Illinois, truck maker with cash soon and then more efficient procurement and better access to new technology for engines and other applications, Navistar CEO Troy Clarke said in an interview.
