President Donald Trump is granting a one-month exemption on his new tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada for U.S. automakers, amid fears that the trade war could harm U.S. manufacturers.

Ford Motor Co. is eliminating stock award bonuses for about half of its middle managers in an effort to boost performance as the automaker confronts declining profit and high costs.

The dominoes started to topple when automaker Ford decided in January to end its relationship with Jack Cooper, bringing the curtain down on an approximately 40-year relationship.

Among the options being floated if the Trump administration moves to strike EV incentives is a three-year wind down to allow more time for the companies to adjust their businesses.

China’s 10% additional tariff on vehicles with engines  larger than 2.5 liters imported from the U.S. took effect Feb. 10.

Ford warned that profit may fall by $2 billion or more in 2025 on lower vehicle prices and costly new-model launches, adding to risks posed by potential new tariffs and dimming demand for plug-in cars.

Ford is placing the leadership of its gas and hybrid business along with its all-electric division under a single leader again, though they will continue to operate separately.

BANGKOK — Ford Motor Co. is recalling 272,827 Broncos and Mavericks due to a power problem that can cause vehicles to stop unexpectedly or fail to start.

Several makes and models of Ford trucks have been recalled over possibly a defective fuel pump that can cause a loss of power and increase the risk of a crash.
