Technology and logistics company Transplace, Frisco, Texas, said it acquired SCO Logistics, a Philadelphia-based third-party logistics company, for an undisclosed sum.

Truck orders soared in March to the highest total in nearly five years, as carriers snapped up new equipment to renew their fleets in advance of the fall freight season, two market research reports said last week.

The head of the National Private Truck Council said shippers are beginning to expand and upgrade their in-house fleets in response to improved business conditions and in anticipation of possible shortages of freight-hauling capacity and higher fuel costs in the year ahead.
