SAN ANTONIO — Over the next 12 months, American Trucking Associations wants to expand its Highway Watch program to all 50 states, train 300,000 more drivers and recruit security personnel from 3,000 transportation firms to create an emergency communications network to help public officials respond to terrorist attacks and other emergency situations, association officials said.

SAN ANTONIO — New low-emissions diesel engines have lower fuel efficiency than older models but so far fewer maintenance or reliability problems, according to a panel of fleet maintenance executives at the ATA Management Conference & Exhibition here on Oct. 19.
