acquired chemical products hauler Service Transport Co. effective Oct. 1 for an undisclosed sum, the Calgary, Alberta-based bulk carrier’s fourth deal in 2025.

STC operates 16 locations and four tank wash facilities along the U.S. Gulf Coast. STC has a fleet of nearly 290 tractors and 750 trailers and employs more than 300 drivers, Trimac said Oct. 1.

Houston-based STC specializes in transporting hydrogen peroxide, acrylic acid, solvents, surfactants and other specialty products. Trimac said the commodities are core to its existing product offering.



Trimac initially unveiled plans for the deal, its third U.S. acquisition this year, on Sept. 18.

Trimac ranks No. 68 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 3 among tank truck and bulk carriers.

Trimac Continues Acquisition Spree

Organic growth in the bulk haulage segment of the freight market is difficult, so Trimac is always looking for deals, a company executive told TT in late 2023.

Trimac’s last acquisition was Searcy Trucking, an open deck and heavy-haul carrier based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, bought in July.

Searcy had more than 120 trucks and 170 trailers at the time of the deal. Its Universal Reload division also offers transloading, warehousing and distribution.

Trimac retained the Searcy brand and management team, with operations continuing at locations in Winnipeg and Altona, Manitoba.

The acquisition improved Trimac’s position in flat deck, less-than-truckload and specialized services across western Canada and the U.S. Midwest, the company said.

Earlier this year, Trimac acquired California-based dry bulk carrier Valley Bulk and flatbed and specialized haulage carrier Watt & Stewart.

Victorville, Calif.-based Valley specializes in dry bulk transportation services across southern and central California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah, particularly cement, fly ash and aggregates. The carrier also hauls nonhazardous liquids.

Valley Bulk had more than 50 trucks and 90 trailers while employing around 70 staff at the time of the deal. Those assets are now operating under the Double Eagle Transportation brand.

Trimac bought Watt & Stewart for an undisclosed sum in January to expand the company’s mining, forestry and heavy-equipment transportation operations. Watt & Stewart operated 124 tractors and 205 trailers at the time.

Watt & Stewart has operations in Alberta, South Carolina and Texas serving mining and manufacturing hubs.

Trimac’s last purchase before the Watt & Stewart deal was the March 2024 acquisition of Feldspar Trucking, which specialized in the bulk transportation of feldspar, sand, clay and minerals crucial to the ceramics and glass industries.

In 2023, Trimac bought four carriers: Transport Sylvain Lasalle, AIP Logistics, Jacknife Oilfield Services and Doyle Sims & Sons Trucking.

Transport Sylvain Lasalle specialized in hauling propane and butane gas. AIP specialized in bulk plastics, liquid chemical, food and metals transportation.

Jacknife primarily transported fluids to and from well sites. Sims & Sons, meanwhile, primarily serviced dry and liquid bulk haul customers in the southern U.S. and Midwest, focusing on commodities such as clay, sand, oils and other nonhazardous products.
