Anderson Trucking Service’s logistics division is expanding its reach with the planned Nov. 1 acquisition of Trailer Bridge Logistics, a move aimed at strengthening ATS’ position in the U.S. freight market.

The deal, announced Oct. 7, transfers ownership of Trailer Bridge’s domestic freight brokerage and rail services to ATS Logistics Services, the logistics arm of the Minnesota-based carrier. The acquisition aligns with ATS’ strategy to broaden its service portfolio and enhance value for customers and stakeholders.

“This acquisition reflects our commitment to growth and, more importantly, to delivering even greater value to our customers,” said Brent Anderson, president of Anderson Trucking Service, which ranks No. 32 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest for-hire carriers in North America. “By combining the strengths of both organizations, we’ll expand capacity, broaden solutions and ensure shippers have the reliable support they need in today’s complex supply chain environment.”

The agreement extends a business relationship between ATS and Trailer Bridge that has lasted more than 30 years, built on shared values of trust, respect and service excellence. Under the terms of the acquisition, ATS will assume control of Trailer Bridge’s logistics and intermodal rail offices in Jacksonville, Fla.; Raleigh, N.C.; Dallas; and Kansas City, Kan.

Jason Netland, chief logistics officer of ATS Logistics, said the integration makes sense given the companies’ similar cultures and customer focus. “This move is a natural fit, built on shared values and a mutual focus on service excellence,” Netland said. “Together, we’ll create more opportunities for our employees while delivering expanded solutions for our customers.”

Trailer Bridge will continue to operate its asset-based ocean shipping services to Puerto Rico as well as its government and international freight forwarding divisions. The acquisition does not include those segments of the business.

As part of the transition, ATS announced the appointment of Eric Masotti as vice president of regional management. Masotti, a 20-year logistics industry veteran, will continue leading the offices that are part of the acquisition. He is known for his experience in strategic growth, technology implementation and team development.

ATS Logistics provides a range of services, including freight brokerage, supply chain management and multimodal transportation solutions.

The acquisition follows a year of expansion for ATS, which has sought to strengthen its position among national logistics providers through both organic growth and strategic partnerships. Company leaders said the deal with Trailer Bridge underscores their focus on customer service, reliability and long-term collaboration with employees and partners.
