Oil held just over $89 a barrel Thursday in advance of the Department of Energy’s weekly report on crude, diesel and gasoline inventories, Bloomberg reported.
Crude futures traded at $89.44 a barrel in early New York Mercantile Exchange trading, up a dime from Wednesday’s close, in advance of DOE’s report, Bloomberg said.
Gasoline and diesel prices both rose close to a nickel this week in their second straight weekly increases.
DOE will release its weekly inventory reports on crude, gasoline and distillates, which include diesel, Wednesday morning in Washington.
