U.S. Business Inventories Drop, Sales Ratio Up

Inventories at U.S. businesses declined by a larger-than-expected 0.5% in September, the Commerce Department reported on Thursday, but this positive news was offset by a report of 2.8% drop in October wholesale activity that pushed the important stock-to-sales ratio up to a three-year high

Alaska Truckers Help Watch Over State's Roads

Since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, truckers who regularly drive the two highways that parallel the 800-mile trans-Alaska oil pipeline from Prudhoe Bay on the Arctic Ocean through Valdez on the Gulf of Alaska have been essential in protecting the infrastructure that provides about 20% of the nation’s oil, according to state trucking officials.
