Durable Orders Up 8.7% in July

In a positive sign for the U.S. economy, orders for durable goods rose 8.7% in July, more than at any time in the last nine months, the Commerce Department reported Tuesday. Orders excluding transportation equipment rose 3.9%.

New, Existing ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Sales Rise in July

The number of Americans purchasing newly constructed homes in July rose 6.7%, to a record 1.017 million annual rate, the Commerce Department said Monday. Sales of existing homes also surged 4.5% to a rate of 5.33 million, the National Association of Realtors reported.
