Year-Over-Year Class 8 Truck Sales Down in April

U.S. sales of Class 8 trucks fell 7% in April from a year earlier, to 11,882 units from 12,782. The year-over-year difference was milder than it had been in other recent months and followed a 10.9% drop in March and declines of more than 20% in the first two months of 2002.

Durable Goods Orders Rise for Fifth Straight Month

The Commerce Department said Thursday U.S. orders for durable goods rose 1.1% in April, while revising the March figure upward from a 0.6% decrease to a 0.2% increase.
