Wireless-services provider Qualcomm Inc. reported Wednesday that net income for its third quarter ended June 26 rose 15% to $560 million or 33 cents a share, from $486 million or 29 cents a year earlier.

Transportation firm CNF Inc. late Tuesday reported its second-quarter income rose by 90%, to $71.1 million or $1.24 a share, up from $37.5 million or 64 cents a year earlier.

General Motors Corp. reported Wednesday it had a net loss of $286 million or 51 cents a share in the second quarter, compared with a profit of $1.38 billion or $2.42 a share a year earlier.
