Transportation and logistics firm C.H. Robinson Worldwide late Tuesday reported second-quarter net income of $66.6 million or 38 cents a share, up from $49.3 million or 28 cents a year earlier.

Diesel engine manufacturer Cummins Inc. has announced an agreement to produce light-duty engines for an unnamed major automaker serving the North American market, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.

Eastern freight rail line Norfolk Southern Corp. reported Wednesday its second-quarter net income fell 12% to $375 million or 89 cents a share from $424 million or $1.04 in 2005.

Covenant Transport said Tuesday it lost $398,000 or 3 cents a share in the second quarter, compared with a net income of $652,000 or 5 cents a share a year earlier.

Heavy-duty truck maker Paccar Inc. reported its second-quarter profit rose 53% to a record $369.9 million or $2.21 a share, from $241.5 million or $1.39 last year.

The two largest Canadian freight rail lines, Canadian National and Canadian Pacific, each reported increases in profits for the second quarter.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. reported Tuesday record earnings of $470 million or $1.27 per share for the second quarter, up from $366 million or 96 cents a year ago.

Existing home sales fell 1.3% in June, the National Association of Realtors said Tuesday.
