Truckload carrier Swift Transportation Co. Wednesday reported its third-quarter net income rose to $33.5 million or 44 cents a share, up from $12.6 million or 17 cents a year earlier.

Less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line said Thursday its third-quarter net income increased 26.2% to $20.1 million or 54 cents a share, from $15.9 million or 43 cents a year earlier.
