U.S. biodiesel production dropped to 68 million gallons in February, from 77.2 million gallons a year ago, the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported Monday.

Retail diesel prices declined for an eighth consecutive week as the national average reached its lowest point since Aug. 6 after dipping 5.5 cents to $3.887 a gallon, the Department of Energy reported.

Vermont’s Senate cut back on a planned gasoline tax increase passed by the House, but proposed raising the state’s diesel tax, the Associated Press reported.

The U.S. diesel average price declined 3.5 cents last week to $3.942 a gallon, the Department of Energy reported, while the price of crude oil tumbled to its lowest level this year.

Shell Oil Co. and TravelCenters of America said they will develop a nationwide network of liquefied natural gas fueling centers for over-the-road trucking customers.

The Alaska State Legislature has passed a bill authorizing up to $275 million for the development, construction and maintenance of a liquefied natural gas plant and distribution system in the state, the Associated Press reported.
