I love trucks. As I travel the country as chairman of American Trucking Associations, I wear a simple button with a simple message: “I Love Trucks.” I even wear it in my official ATA chairman’s portrait. It’s a button I encourage everyone I meet to wear. It starts conversations about this great industry and gives me a chance to tell our story.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Truck makers returned to the Mid-America Trucking Show, to varying degrees, and while many things seemed familiar, the specter of new competition also loomed over North America’s largest annual truck show.

WASHINGTON — The country’s infrastructure again received a near-failing grade from the American Society of Civil Engineers, highlighting a lack of improvement four years after the group’s last assessment.

Each night, thousands of truck drivers across the country find themselves in a horrible game of “musical chairs” — searching for parking spaces to take their mandated 10-hour rest period. This occurs because of a major shortage for truck parking, which has not kept up with the volume and growth of trucks traveling across our country each day.

While Republican leaders in Congress seem to be in no hurry to address the country’s infrastructure, there’s an entirely different feeling surrounding President Trump’s pick to be transportation secretary, Elaine Chao, who was confirmed easily last week.
