U.S. companies are expected to create more than 1 million logistics-related jobs in the next four years, but educational institutions are currently turning out a small fraction of the trained workers that will be needed, a new study shows.

Third-party logistics firm Caterpillar Logistics Services said Thursday it has changed its name to Neovia Logistics Services.

Consumer confidence rose to a five-year high in October, according to the Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index released Friday.

Universal Truckload Services said its third-quarter net income rose slightly from a year ago.

The makers of aerodynamic add-ons for truck trailers are focused on more than just improving fuel economy. They also must cut down fleets’ maintenance costs so fuel savings are not eaten up in the repair shop, manufacturers and carrier executives have said.

Trailer orders inched up 1.8% in September from a year ago to 16,990, ACT Research reported, and manufacturers said they expect order intake to continue growing in the final months of the year.

XPO Logistics said Thursday it has purchased Turbo Logistics, the freight brokerage division of logistics company OHL, for $50 million.

XPO Logistics is on course to reach $500 million in annual revenue by year-end, buoyed by the recent purchase of Kelron Logistics, which will add more than $100 million annually to sales, said Bradley Jacobs, XPO’s chief executive officer.
