Vitran Corp. said it sold truckload carrier Frontier Transport Corp. to Online Transport, an Indianapolis-based carrier, for about $5 million.

Vitran Corp.’s second-quarter net income jumped to $1.7 million, 11 cents per share, up from $400,000, or 3 cents, a year ago.

Vitran Corp. said late Tuesday it lost $900,000, or 6 cents a share, in the first quarter, narrowing its loss of $2.4 million, or 17 cents, in the same period last year.
