Heartland Express' losses tripled year over year in Q2 of 2025 as revenue slumped at the truckload carrier, which continued to struggle to turn a profit at divisions acquired in recent years.

The Iowa-based company posted a loss in the fourth quarter of 2024 as the ongoing integration of two acquisitions alongside the industrywide freight recession weighed heavily on its OR.

Losses at Heartland Express narrowed year over year in the third quarter as both legacy brands and two more recently acquired units turned in an improved performance.
