Forward Air Corp.’s net income dropped 8.2% from the same quarter last year, the Greeneville, Tenn.-based company reported July 26. But at the same time, the company set a second-quarter record for revenue.

Forward Air Corp. reported record revenue and net income when the Greeneville, Tenn.-based carrier announced first-quarter earnings April 24.

Forward Air Corp. turned in its best-ever fourth quarter and full year in 2018 with profits topping expectations and revenue increasing across most of its freight service lines.

Forward Air Corp. posted higher revenue but lower-than-expected earnings in the third quarter of 2018. The company also announced that it has agreed to acquire substantially all of the assets of Southwest Freight Distributors, a drayage service provider based in Dallas, for an undisclosed amount.

Forward Air Corp., a mostly expedited LTL carrier, reported July 26 second-quarter net income of $24.3 million, or 83 cents per share compared with $19.7 million, or 65 cents, a 23% increase from a year ago. The company’s operating revenue increased to $330.3 million compared with $283.9 million, a 16% jump.

Forward Air Corp. reported better-than-expected results in the first quarter as strong demand and tight truckload capacity boosted expedited less-than-truckload shipping and intermodal services.

Greeneville, Tenn.-based Forward Air Corp. reported Feb. 7 fourth-quarter net income of $35.4 million, or $1.18 earnings per share, compared with $12.7 million, or 42 cents, in the fourth quarter a year ago.

Forward Air Corp. had a steady third quarter with its results slightly topping analysts’ forecasts, indicating the for-hire carrier is moving at a measured pace for the year.

Forward Air Corp. recovered strongly after a $10 million loss one year ago, posting a profit of $19.6 million or 64 cents per share for the three-month period ending June 30.
