The Department of Energy bumped its forecast for 2015 diesel prices up by 2 cents to $2.88 a gallon, but lowered its 2016 forecast by 12 cents.

Diesel’s national average price rose for the fourth straight week, climbing 2.4 cents to $2.878 a gallon, the Department of Energy reported May 11.

The U.S. average for retail diesel fuel rose for a third straight week, hitting $2.854 per gallon after a 4.3-cent jump May 4, the Department of Energy reported.

Diesel’s national average price rose 3.1 cents to $2.811 a gallon, the second consecutive increase, while gasoline jumped to a five-month high, the Department of Energy reported April 27.

The Minnesota Trucking Association and four trade groups are suing Minnesota in federal court in an attempt to topple the state’s biodiesel mandate.
