Daseke Inc. reported a net loss in its first earnings report since going public in February. However, company executives said the results were consistent with expectations and that recent gains in pricing and demand should bolster revenue and profits later in the year.

Bulldog Hiway Express is merging with Daseke Inc., a group of flatbed, open-deck and specialty carriers, the companies announced.

Daseke Inc. announced Oct. 3 that it is buying Lone Star Transportation, which it called one of the premier open-deck carriers in North America, with nearly 500 tractors and 1,500 diverse open-deck trailers.
