Con-way Inc.’s second-quarter profit rose as its truckload, less-than-truckload and logistics operations all improved.

Con-way Truckload announced its purchase of 550 new tractors, 540 of which will be equipped with automatic transmissions and all with driver-preferred 6x4 axles.

Con-way Inc. reported its first-quarter net income slipped as higher tax expense and winter-weather challenges reduced its earnings.

Con-way Inc. said its fourth-quarter net profit is likely to be about the same as that of 2012 as expenses increased in its less-than-truckload and logistics units.

Con-way Inc. reported a higher third-quarter profit than the same quarter last year, and revenue was little changed.

Con-way Inc. reported a higher second-quarter profit than the same quarter last year, although its revenue and operating income fell slightly.
