GENEVA — Alibaba founder Jack Ma said Oct. 2 that the trade dispute between the United States and China could last 20 years. But he expressed hope that a solution could be reached as a trade war would “hurt everybody.”

China announced more tariff cuts Sept. 26 on construction machinery and other goods but no action on U.S. complaints about its technology policy that are fueling an escalating trade battle.
