Werner Enterprises’ second-quarter earnings jumped 31% despite sluggish freight demand in the first two months of the quarter, the truckload carrier said Wednesday.
Net income rose to $27.5 million, or 38 cents a share, from $20.9 million, or 29 cents, a year ago.
Revenue rose 11% to $515.9 million.ÌýExcluding fuel surcharges, revenue rose 2%.
Revenue per total mile was up 3.1% from last year’s second quarter.
