USPS Announces Major Changes to Shipping Prices in 2026

The United States Postal ServiceÌýis raising prices for some of its shipping services starting in 2026.
The service filed notice with theÌýPostal Regulatory CommissionÌýfor price changes related to shipping services, taking effect onÌýJan. 18, 2026. The proposed adjustments were approved by theÌýU.S. Postal ServiceÌýgovernors last week.
The changes will raise shipping services prices approximately 6.6% for Priority Mail service, 5.1% for Priority Mail Express service, 7.8% for USPS Ground Advantage, and 6% for Parcel Select.

There will not be a price change for mailing services in January, which means the price to mail a letter with a First-Class Mail stamp will not change.

While mailing service price increases are based on the consumer price index, shipping services prices are primarily adjusted according to market conditions. The governors said they believe these new rates will keep theÌýPostal ServiceÌýcompetitive while providing the organization with needed revenue.
These proposed changes will support creation of a revitalized organization capable of achieving its public service mission, which is to provide a nationwide, integrated network for the delivery of mail and packages at least six days a week in a cost-effective and financially sustainable manner.
