MILLVILLE, N.J. - What will truck tire retreading look like in the future?

Ask Scott S. Bennett, and he may give you a tour of the newest Service Tire Truck Center, located in this quiet town near the Jersey shore.

Although many retreading shops have some form of automation, Bennett’s firm is one of the first independent tire dealers to install all of the latest equipment and technology to automate virtually the entire tire-retreading process.

The store is one of three that supply retreaded tires to all 17 Service Tire shops in the mid-Atlantic region. Service Tire is headquartered in Bethlehem, Pa.

With several machines costing upwards of $100,000 each, Bennett, who is vice president of sales, said the company expects the investment to pay off with greater productivity, improved product quality and higher customer satisfaction.
