Paschall Truck Lines parent company Interstate Personnel Services acquired refrigerated and dry van truckload carrier J&R Schugel, the employee-owned companies said in social media posts.
New Ulm, Minn.-based J&R Schugel runs a nationwide truckload operation, specializing in Midwest, Northeast and Southeast lanes. The carrier also has a Midwest and Southeast regional-haul business.
J&R Schugel celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024 and became 100% employee owned in 2014. The merger was effective Oct. 31.
“The J&R Schugel name is well known and highly respected in our industry. Adding [J&R Schugel] to the IPS family expands the capabilities and services that we can jointly provide to our respective customers while also creating new exciting opportunities for our employee owners,” IPS CEO and Chairman Dave Gibbs said.

Before the deal, IPS’ transportation sector subsidiaries comprised Paschall Truck Lines, Paschall Logistics, Paschall Trailer Leasing, Transport Distribution Co. and IPS Leasing.

Murray, Ky.-based Paschall Truck Lines operates more than 1,250 power units and 4,000 trailers as part of its dry van and refrigerated truckload operations.
Paschall Truck Lines also operates Midwest, Southeast and south central regional fleets based in Indianapolis, Atlanta and Memphis, Tenn., respectively.
Overall, IPS and its transportation units will operate nearly 2,000 tractors and 6,000 trailers after the deal. All focus on dry van and refrigerated services in the U.S. and Mexico.
Brokerage units Paschall Logistics and J&R Schugel Logistics will be combined after the merger. Paschall Logistics was established in 2015.
