SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Legislators are seeking a way out of a budget snarl that's hindering efforts to end their more than six-month session, and the state's weight-mile tax hangs in the balance.

Complications mounted Tuesday when the House rejected a committee report favoring locking tobacco revenue in a health care trust fund.

Some other obstacles to adjournment of the session remain, however.

One is a Senate-passed bill to raise the gas tax by 5 cents a gallon for roads projects.

The House is balking because of a provision to end the weight-mile tax on trucks and replace it with a diesel fuel tax.
