SAN DIEGO — Trucking technology supplier Motive is rolling out an artificial intelligence tool that generates instant answers to fleet managers’ questions about how their business is performing.
The new capability, AI Answers, works in much the same way as popular large language model-driven chatbots such as ChatGPT. It understands questions in everyday language and produces responses to those queries by extracting insights from across a company’s operational data.
This conversational analytics tool enables safety, finance and operations teams to quickly check information related to everything from fleet safety and fuel efficiency to maintenance costs.
Motive announced its AI Answers feature in conjunction with American Trucking Associations’ 2025 Management Conference & Exhibition.
With fleets capturing more and more data on their operations, AI Answers can help them turn data overload into actionable information that drives faster, better decision making, the company said.
“Teams running physical operations need fast, actionable insights to stay safe, productive and profitable, but static reports and hard-to-reach data across disconnected tools make that nearly impossible,” said Hemant Banavar, Motive’s chief product officer. “AI Answers delivers real-time insights instantly so teams don’t have to dig through cumbersome custom reports. Now data is no longer a bottleneck, it drives smarter decisions and business growth.”
Fleet managers can view key business information and visualizations in seconds by asking plain-language questions such as “Which drivers had the most idling time last week?” or “What was our average vehicle downtime last month?”
Users can then ask follow-up questions to uncover trends, patterns and opportunities to improve operations.
“Motive’s AI Answers makes it effortless to turn data into action,” Michael O’Neil, project manager at Reliable Carriers, said in a statement. “Instead of digging through complex reports, we just ask a question and get instant, clear answers. What once took hours can now be done in seconds — all in one system.”
AI Answers is built directly into Motive Analytics, which the company launched earlier this year at its Vision 2025 conference.
Motive Analytics provides live dashboards, root-cause analysis and executive reports that help fleets better manage their daily operations and improve profitability.
