Initial jobless claims fell by 10,000 last week, the Labor Department reported Thursday.
New claims fell to 382,000 for the week ended Saturday, below economists’ forecasts of a drop to 385,000 from the originally reported 388,000 in the prior week, Bloomberg reported. It was the lowest level since Feb. 26.
The four-week moving average of new claims, a less volatile measure, dropped to 389,500.
Continuing claims for the previous week ended March 26 fell by 9,000 from a week earlier, to 3.72 million.
