The average price of regular gasoline jumped 16 in the past two weeks, according to the latest Lundberg Survey of filling stations released Sunday.
Regular gasoline rose to $2.96 a gallon, the twice-monthly survey said. Mid-grade was $3.08 and premium was $3.19 a gallon, oil industry analyst Trilby Lundberg said.
Oil prices hit record highs last week, topping out the trading week above $95 a barrel for the first time on Friday on the New York Mercantile Exchange, Bloomberg reported.
The lowest average gas price was in Newark, N.J., at $2.73 a gallon, while the highest was in San Francisco at $3.28, the Lundberg Survey said.
