FMCSA to Build Truck Crash Database
Margaret Gordetsky
| Staff ReporterJulie Anna Cirillo, acting assistant administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, said that unlike NHTSA’s car crash data, FMCSA “we have no substantive data that could point to the causes of truck accidents.â€
The database created by NHTSA will help fix this information shortfall for FMCSA. NHTSA’s National Automotive Sampling System will develop the database to capture and analyze truck crash information and categorize potential causes of crashes.
