DOT Weighs Role of Fatigue in Crashes
VIENNA, Va. — Fatigue management is one of the most challenging and important human factors facing transportation workers today, according to a group of government and industry experts who attended a Department of Transportation conference on the subject.
Government regulations, however, may not offer a complete solution, industry representatives said.
The Aug. 29-30 conference was part of the department’s “ONEDOT Flagship” initiative. It brought together representatives from all of DOT’s agencies — Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Coast Guard, Federal Transit Administration, Office of Pipeline Safety, Federal Aviation Administration and Federal Maritime Administration.
