The financial lender for Daimler Truck North America will establish its headquarters in North Carolina with a $7.8 million investment that will add 276 jobs in Charlotte, Gov. Josh Stein recently announced.

“I am pleased to welcome Daimler Truck Financial Services USA to North Carolina,” Stein said. “More than 200 financial service companies call North Carolina home thanks to our skilled workforce and top-tier quality of life.”

Providing financing solutions for all types of commercial vehicle customers, DTFS for over half a century has been the captive finance provider for DTNA — among the world’s largest commercial vehicle makers and producer of Freightliner and Western Star trucks.

DTFS offers custom financing, leasing and insurance for commercial vehicle customers such as fleet owners, municipalities and owner-operators.

Kevin Bangston, DTFS president and CEO, noted: “We’re thrilled to establish our new headquarters in the Ballantyne area — this move marks a pivotal step in aligning our team closer to DTNA and advancing our strategy for long-term services growth.”

The Charlotte headquarters will be in the 10-story Boyle Building at 13034 Ballantyne Corporate Place on nearly 6 acres in the Ballantyne Corporate Park, accessible by Interstates 485 and 77. The move will consolidate the company’s current offices in Michigan and Texas.

“Charlotte is the second largest banking center in the United States,” said Lee Lilley, state secretary of commerce. “Daimler Truck knows the proximity to its existing manufacturing operations, combined with our excellent business climate and thriving financial sector, makes North Carolina the best place to grow and expand.”

The average annual salary at the DTFS headquarters will be around $133,940, much higher than the current $86,830 average salary in Mecklenburg County.

“These new jobs could create a potential annual payroll impact of more than $36.9 million for the region,” the governor’s office noted.

The company took advantage of state and local economic incentives to win the relocation deal. The project was backed by the state Department of Commerce and its workforce solutions division, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the state General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, Mecklenburg County and the City of Charlotte.

“This is outstanding news for Mecklenburg County and the entire state,” said state Sen. Woodson Bradley (D). “This announcement wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of the local and state partners that collaborated to add this great addition to our corporate community.”
