Carolina Renewable Products in Orangeburg County, S.C., as part of a $280 million investment aimed at boosting regional supply of the alternative fuel.

The project aims to provide a new renewable diesel source for Southeast fleets and shippers, tying fuel production to the region’s forestry economy and adding 155 jobs at a site that also will serve as the company’s headquarters and training hub. Operations are slated to begin in late 2026.

CRP plans to source forestry byproducts as feedstock for renewable diesel intended for heavy transport and other industrial uses. Specifically, sustainable wood biomass will be converted into fuel, biochar and wood vinegar.

The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits tied to the project and awarded a $750,000 grant to Orangeburg County to assist with site preparation and construction. The facility will be located at 546 Prosperity Drive in Orangeburg.

State officials said the investment expands South Carolina’s renewable fuels footprint and supports domestic energy infrastructure for carriers and logistics operators.

“This $280 million investment, creating 155 new jobs, will greatly impact Orangeburg County, and we look forward to seeing the company succeed in the years ahead,” Gov. Henry McMaster said.

“Our facility will not only provide a reliable outlet for local forestry but also create products that aid South Carolina’s energy independence and help farmers, growers and businesses thrive while advancing the state’s leadership in renewable energy,” CRP CEO Robert Bryan added.
