Blizzard Closes 150-Mile Stretch of I-70 in Colorado
oliday travelers and truckers remained stranded by blizzard conditions in Colorado's eastern plains waited for a 150-mile stretch of Interstate 70 to reopen Monday following a big snow storm, the Associated Press reported.
-70’s eastbound lanes remained closed from just outside Denver to the Kansas line and beyond, AP said. Westbound lanes were closed for about 90 miles from Kansas to Limon, Colo.
The National Weather Service said 6-foot drifts were common in eastern Colorado and western Kansas.
A blizzard warning is in effect until 5 p.m. local time Monday in eastern Colorado. The National Weather Service said 4 inches of snow fell overnight and up to 2 more inches could fall on Monday, AP reported.
