Bering Truck Selects First Dealer
The dealership owned by Jim Burgess will sell the complete line of Class 3 through Class 8 Bering trucks in the Washington, D.C., area. The trucks will be sold from a new facility adjacent to an existing dealership that includes a body shop and full-service leasing center.
Separately, Bering broke ground Oct. 1 for its assembly and manufacturing plant in Front Royal. The plant initially will build Class 7 and Class 8 truck models at a rate of 2,000 units a year when completed in the 1999 fourth quarter. Production can be expanded to produce up to 10,000 trucks per shift annually.
“This marks a new page in U.S. truck manufacturing,” said Bering President William Anderson. “It is the first domestic assembly plant for an all-new U.S. truck manufacturer in 74 years.”
