A new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration policy, effective immediately, should make it easier for trucking companies to expunge nonpreventable accidents from their safety records and perhaps improve their safety ratings, according to regulators.At the outset, a trucking company may present evidence during a compliance review that an accident involving one of its truck could not be prevented and so not should not be scored against the company.
