WASHINGTON — Port and border drayage truck drivers could pose a security risk that is difficult to manage, a Department of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøland Security official told reporters and transportation officials.

Thousands of drivers who applied for the Free and Secure Trade program at the U.S.-Canadian border have not followed up with required in-person interviews, said Chris Kealey, a spokesman for the Canada Border Services Agency. The FAST program pre-approves drivers so they could cross the border quickly.

The National Transportation Safety Board said Tuesday the government should require data recorders or "black boxes" in all passenger vehicles that record speed, seat belt use, braking and other factors, news services reported.
