Daimler Truck said it plans to double the size of its defense business by 2030 as it seeks to profit from higher military spending globally, and will cut 5,000 jobs in Germany.

The letters issued July 7 so far appeared to largely be a novel method of again punting a looming July 9 deadline for so-called “reciprocal” tariffs until at least the beginning of August.
