Wisconsin Law Eliminates Automatic Fuel-Tax Increases
isconsin Gov. Jim Doyle (D) signed legislation late last month repealing automatic annual increases for inflation in the state’s fuel tax, though the repeal will not take effect until April 2007.
Under the new law, increases which had previously been determined by a formula and instituted every April 1 will have to be voted on by the state’s legislature.
Wisconsin's gasoline tax is expected to go up 0.8 cent on April 1 of this year, the Associated Press reported. The new law eliminates automatic indexing after that increase.
