White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said Tuesday afternoon that tests have confirmed the presence of anthrax at an off-site mail screening facility used to sort mail coming into the White House, news services reported.

Fleischer stressed that all tests at the White House for the contagion have come back negative. The contagion has already claimed the lives of three since the infected mailings were discovered nearly three weeks ago.

All employees who handle mail at the White House and all those who work at the mail sorting facility were being tested for the disease.

Also Tuesday, a mail handler in New Jersey and at least two more postal workers in Washington were believed to be suffering from the disease, according to AP.
